Goals and Skills I have for Quarter 1
One skill I learned from Quarter 1 is that I learned about Rome, Rome was a city that was not built in a day and didn't fall in a day either. Another skill I learned is how to write narratives with intriguing starters.
One thing that I look forward to learning in Quarter 2 is how to write good responses to literature. Another thing I look forward to is learning about Africa.

Goals and Skills I have for Quarter 2
One skill I learned from Quarter 2 is how to annotate and write responses to articles. Another thing I learned from this quarter is that the Chinese were not very smart in constructing the Great Wall of China (it was not an efficient way to protect China), and they did not know to not sell new dangerous inventions to their enemies. After all, the Mongols destroyed part of the Great Wall of China with CHINA'S OWN GUNPOWDER! How ridiculously ironic is that? One thing I look forward to learning in Quarter 3 is writing persuasive essays (that may be a helpful skill later on). Another thing I look forward to learning is learning about the Renaissance (if that will be in Quarter 3 or Quarter 4 I do not know).
Goals and Skills I have for Quarter 3
One skill that I learned in Quarter 3 is good debating skills. We did a lot of "four corner discussions" which were mini debates. We also did some longer and more extensive debates where we had to research facts, statistics, and other information for many days. One of those more extensive debates included the GMO class debate which was a fun way to learn about other people's opinions on the topic. Another skill I received from this class in quarter 3 was learning about the Japanese Samurai. These warriors were very captivating because of the very different way they fought. For example, the knight had the original sword and shield, while the Samurai usually carried two swords (katana and wakizashi) as well as full (and light) body protective armor and sometimes a bow and arrow. Some goals that I have for next quarter include still learning about the Renaissance (I got an introduction to it already in art) and what kind of different forms of new art was created in that time period, as well as continuing to learn about more and more websites that you can make world wrap ups, research, etc. on.
Goals and Skills I have for Quarter 4
One skill I have learned throughout the year, as well as in Quarter 4 were the 4 types of sentence types that you can use to progress your writing skills, moreover making your writing more enticing to read. These 4 types of sentences include simple (The cat walked down the street.), compound (The cat walked down the street, and he stopped to rest.), complex (While walking to my house, I saw a cat walking down the street.), and compound-complex (As I sat down on a bench, a cat plunked down next to me, and he purred while scratching his nails on the sidewalk.). I also learned a lot about figurative language which assists your detailed writing. The types of figurative language include simile (the dog is as fluffy as a cloud), metaphor (the dog's fur is a fluffy cloud), alliteration (eight eager elephants), hyperbole (I ran for a million miles), onomatopoeia (screech, bang, clink), personification (the dog danced in the rain), and idiom (copycat, woke up on the wrong side of bed, etc.). One goal I have to learn in the future is how to incorporate larger, more descriptive words into my writing. This will help keep my writing entertaining to the readers, as well as adding many specific details to the sentences I speak and write. Another goal I have is to help ameliorate an ASPIRE project that Thea Wulff and I have been working on for approximately 6 months now. Our idea is to create a hard candy that will decrease the spread of infectious illnesses with the use of alkalinizing effects. We made a prototype of this idea, which we tested with pH strips, and bacteria growth plates, and the candy does seem to have an effect. My goal is to take on the offer that was presented to us by Shaun, the person who runs ASPIRE, patent this idea, as well as licensing our home kitchen, from where we can then sell our candies to customers. I hope that this can be done before the end of the school year.
